dress-ups

for all those of you that have just boys, perhaps you don't realize what exactly dress-ups is all about, but it is far more than just a game, it's practically a life-style! i'd say we get dress-up clothes every single day, or make-up some (aka, use a blanket as a cape).
heck yeah, i'm having fun!!!!!
afton's far more creative, and i love seeing what combos she comes up with :)
sunday dresses also make decent capes. and yes, she's definately big into posing for pictures! she's got a very specific idea about what that means too, i'm sure you can see what i mean...

rayna, on the other hand, just cracks me up! who wouldn't think of being a ballerina in big green christmas pajamas? leopard print and wands are meant to go with santa, right?!?
please note the beautiful ballet slippers, they totally complete the outfit!

afton's scarecrows

afton's been decorating for halloween lately (i think she knows i never will...) building scarecrows and drawing pictures mostly. this one was the first decoration she made. note the string 'hair,' at least one necklace, and that red thing at the bottom is a 'skirt' that wouldn't stay up on her shelf/body. creative kid!

after multiple attempts like the previous picture, we finally helped her make this one in our front lawn (we put it up on conference saturday) the face was her trick-or-treat bag last year, and she insisted it needed a bowl of acorns and leaves in case it gets hungry. we're also happy to announce that it does look creepy outside the living room window late at night, when you've forgotten it's there (both paul and i have done double takes at the person lurking outside).
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

upload

i seem to have a hard time posting anything without pictures... i uploaded/edited nearly a hundred today.
i'm about out of time for today though, so i should be posting a lot in the near future, check back often :)

FIRE!!!

we had an exciting morning today, this is who our neighbor's dryer invited to visit (there were actually 4 trucks, but i couldn't get them all in the picture). evidently there was a "minor" fire in our neighbors apartment, starting with either their dryer or the electric connections. the damage was just in their apartment, and i'm not sure how extensive it is, there was some water damage to the apartment on the other side of theirs, but we just got smoke, so we'll be okay.
you can see our red door (and our scarecrow, which is evidently more of a scare-dog, accoding to our neighbors with a little dog), and the neighbor's open door, and melted blinds in the upstairs window. there was a lot of smoke pouring out of the back of the house, and a fair amount coming from that window, though the wind blew it back pretty quickly. i know the family that lives there has a place to stay and i know the red cross was there to help them within an hour of the fire, but like i said, i'm not sure how bad the damage is.
like i said before, we were pretty lucky, the smoke wasn't too bad, and it'll probably air out of our house by tonight, we were a little cold for a half hour or so til we were allowed to go in for diapers (a couple of us were pretty soggy too), blankets, and shoes. it was quite an adventure!
