too many pics, which to choose... all?

my favorite rayna pic this week, last saturday at grandma's house, eating toes for lunch--YUM!

rayna likes tv... especially elmo, (she and afton love that and baby einstein)

rayna and mama playing during nap-time today... i think we took a couple dozen pics, not very many were any good

playing hand and foot at grandma's house, it was really, REALLY funny, we were all laughing!

does anyone remember what we were laughing about?

paul and the girls were getting the grill going for what turned out to be the best grilled chicken and asparagus ever!!! thanks honey, it truly was amazing!!!!!

if only this pic signified something serious, like afton suddenly being willing, or even wanting to use the potty, we bribe like crazy, and can occasionally get her sitting on it, but not really doing anything... oh well... do you like the view clear down her thoat?

time to post something about rayna

well, yesterday we finally got rayna in for her 6 month check-up (yep, she's almost 9 months old), because there's some weird mix-up with moving and insurance and stuff... (and i forgot an appointment, but since that was the first time ever in my life, i figure i can pretend it didn't happen)... anyways, she's perfect. the nurse seemed really surprised at her motor skills (i guess it helps that she's 8 1/2 months old, not 6), and her crawling and stuff. anyways, she's about 19 pounds, and 27 1/2 inches tall, about the 65-70th percentiles. she's such a happy girl, though she still won't smile much for the camera, and she loves playing outside, and with afton in our playroom. she did have to get three shots and a toe-prick (to measure iron), but she barely cried, so that was good. (it also gave afton the idea to give her little friend a "shot" today with a ball-point pen to the abdomen, sorry again!)

conversation with afton

a: i bigger

me: yes

a: i growin'

me: yes, you're growing to a big girl

a: i go school (walks to living room for about 3 seconds, then returns to kitchen)
i back mama

me: you're back from school?

a: yes

me: did you have fun?

a: yes

me: what did you do?

a: (blank stare)

me: did you sing "ABC's"?

a: no

me: did you count to 10?

a: no

me: did you color?

a: no

me: did you play on the playground?

a: no

me: did you see other kids?

a: no, i go school (runs back to living room for approximately 3 seconds, returns)
i back!

me: you're back from school? hooray, give me a hug! (**grins all around**)

i never claimed i was quick, but i do catch on, i think i was just supposed to be glad she came home :) we regularly pass an elementary school on our walks that she will go to in a couple more years, and she usually calls it "afton's school for when i bigger"

inspired by my sister and her playdough post, i thought i'd post a couple pics of afton's playdough creations (we pull it out probably 3-4 times per week), usually she's "makin' dinner" with her plastic knives and forks, but this day she was making:

a cow (don't you see it, okay, not really, but that's what she told me it was... any questions?)

and a snowman, this one i thought was pretty clear

time for a new post

at dinner the other night:

afton: "daddy big boy... afton little girl"

i guss she just figured that out.

okay, maybe it's not really that funny in print(the 100% serious tone and face added to the experience, and the little pauses between words), but it totally made me laugh! :)

park days

we love playing at the park with our friends as often as we can!
